EKES is recognised throughout the UK and Europe for its engineering expertise, providing specialist services to a wide range of industries including Aerospace, Automotive, Marine and Oil & Gas. In just four years, this dynamic company has increased its turnover from £7m to £21m, which, according to Andrew Steedman, Technical Director of East Kilbride Engineering Services (EKES) ‘is all about working ever more closely with customers by using shared tools.’ Steedman explained, ‘as a specialist supplier of engineering services to RollsRoyce plc and BAE Systems, we use NX and Teamcenter. These solutions have undoubtedly been part of our success and so have the experts at TEAM Engineering, who have been with us since we bought our first software licenses over 10 years ago.’
TEAM’s consulting engineers were able to help EKES overcome the challenge of transferring people over to NX and Teamcenter by delivering the appropriate level of training through ‘hands on’ support on specific tasks and structured training programmes. This flexible level of help and support has enabled EKES to build up their original four licenses to the 40+ licenses they have today. Steedman says, ‘when we periodically require training we simply talk to TEAM and they respond very quickly to our needs.
‘We have experienced a phenomenal increase in turnover, and this is largely due to contracts from Rolls Royce and BAE Systems. Eighty per cent of our business is with these two companies. By adopting NX and Teamcenter, we have been able to position the company to support its customers very closely.’
Steedman believes that having the right software is a key contributor to the company’s success. ‘If you do not keep in step with the latest software developments you’ll get left behind. TEAM Engineering enabled us to make the financial transition – and that created the momentum for our subsequent growth.’
Using Siemens PLM technology, supported by TEAM Engineering, EKES continue to lead the way with a dynamic team of Design and Analysis Consultants.
