I-deas Transition to NX
Over the past 4 years, TEAM have been working closely with Siemens PLM to provide the best and most effective transition for I-deas customers. As a Certified Siemens Migration Partner, we can share with you the benefit of our NX beta testing, I-deas Data migration auditing and migration deployments.
What is the future of NX I-deas?
Siemens PLM will continue to provide I-deas releases that support a smooth transition for companies to migrate to NX. However Siemens are working towards the strategic objective of moving all I-deas customers successfully to NX. The ‘paired release’ approach between NX and I-deas creates an environment for engineering teams that facilitates phased implementations. Technically, the paired releases match operating systems and other technical components along with added benefits of shared licensing.
What I-deas functionality will be incorporated into future releases of NX?
Siemens PLM goal is to take the best from I-deas and the best from Unigraphics and incorporate them into NX. Hundreds of I-deas commands and user interaction concepts have been enhanced and delivered into NX releases.
NX now includes new technology and advanced functionality that builds on our market-leading portfolio and customer requested enhancements.
How do I migrate data from I-deas to NX?
For CAD users, Siemens PLM provides the Content Migration Manager utility that migrates I-deas parts, assemblies and associative drawings. The content Migration Manager is provided to all I-deas customers with current maintenance on completion of a customer audit by TEAM. Both the Content Migration Manager and the Initial Audit process are provided free of charge to I-deas customers with current maintenance.
CAE Users have a choice of 3 different paths for migrating their data and results. The Content Migration Manager will open a model file and migrate the CAE data to NX. The parent geometry is also migrates and associated mesh and boundary conditions are retained. Other methods for migrating CAE data to NX include using the I-deas universal file and the Nastran bulk data format. For motion simulation, I-deas mechanism data can be exported along with the assembly data and imported using PLMXML format.
